Abstrak

Blue Halo S play an important role in the sustainable conservation of natural resources. However, MPA management in Indonesia, including in North Nias, still faces challenges such as overfishing, habitat destruction, and climate change. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of integration between conservation and utilization objectives of fisheries resources in the North Nias Conservation Area using the Blue Halo S approach. The research used a holistic approach combining descriptive studies, literature analysis, field surveys, interviews with local stakeholders, and data analysis related to ecological and physicochemical parameters. The research found that MPAs in North Nias have great potential in supporting a sustainable maritime economy and maintaining high marine biodiversity. However, significant challenges such as overfishing, habitat destruction and climate change remain. The Blue Halo S approach has proven to be relevant and effective in developing sustainable management policies, involving local community participation and multi-stakeholder collaboration. Implementation of the Blue Halo S approach enhances local maritime economies through sustainable tourism and environmentally friendly fishing practices, and safeguards aquatic resources for future generations.
